About the Open Call

This online art competition, presented by PleinAir Salon, invites all artists to submit their artwork for a chance to win significant cash prizes. The total prize pool is $50,000, distributed across monthly and annual awards. Monthly winners receive cash prizes of $600 for First Place Overall, $400 for Second, $300 for Third, and $50 for each category. The annual awards are substantial, with $15,000 for First Place Overall, accompanied by a coveted cover feature on PleinAir Magazine. Other annual prizes include $3,000 for Second Place, $2,000 for Third Place, three Honorable Mentions of $750 each, six Best Medium awards of $450 each, and an Artist’s Choice Award of $300. The competition is judged by Master Artists, with Natasha Isenhour serving as the August judge. While "Plein Air" is in the title, the competition explicitly welcomes all artists, extending beyond traditional plein air painters.
