About the Open Call

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting is an international talent development program that supports non-professional screenwriters. The program offers fellowship support, ongoing mentoring, networking opportunities, and career advancement through the Gold Alumni Network. Public submissions are available via The Black List (until July 6, 2026) or the Writers Guild Foundation (until July 20, 2026).

What is Offered

Direct fellowship support, ongoing mentoring from Academy members, networking opportunities, pitch workshops, and media training.

Requirements

Applicants must be non-professional screenwriters.

Submit via one of the two public portals: The Black List at blcklst.com/nicholl or the Writers Guild Foundation at wgfoundation.org/nicholl. Writers may submit via only one of the public portals.
