Sensorium: Centre for Digital Art and Technology
The Connected Minds Artist-in-Residence program supports artist-researchers exploring the impacts of emerging technologies on diverse communities and how technologies can be developed more socially responsibly. Artists will collaborate with students/faculty, participate in workshops, produce research-based creative work, and prepare an exhibition. This opportunity is open to artists in any medium who have a demonstrable track record in research-based creative practice and at least two years of experience training or mentoring emerging artists. Projects will critically explore ethical and sociopolitical dimensions of disruptive, emerging, or intelligent technologies.
Stipend of $60,000 + benefits; $8,500 research/materials/engagement budget; shared research space and assistance; access to York University Libraries; curatorial support for exhibition; photo and video documentation.
Demonstrable track record in research-based creative practice, including public presentations of work and at least two years of experience training or mentoring emerging artists. Not open to current York or Queen’s University students or faculty.
Submit a 1-page letter of interest, CV, project proposal (1000 words max), portfolio (3 examples of research-creation work), 1 letter of reference, and an $8,500 budget plan to Sensorium Coordinator Helen Lee (helen2@yorku.ca).
