About the Open Call

The residency offers artists the opportunity to create new artwork inspired by the mass migration of swans, ducks, and geese at McClintock Bay. Selected artists will live in a rustic cabin and work in a wall-tent studio for 13 nights. The residency emphasizes connecting nature and art through place and involves significant public interaction, including workshops and open studio sessions during the annual Celebration of Swans.

What is Offered

A $3,000 honourarium, use of a wall-tent studio, 13 nights of rustic cabin accommodation, and opportunities to interact with scientists and the public during the Celebration of Swans.

Requirements

Open to emerging and established Yukon and Atlin, B.C. artists. Candidates must be comfortable with rustic living (no running water, wood-stove heating) and provide their own transportation and food. Selected artists must host three public workshops/events and two drop-in sessions, and provide digital copies of work produced within three months of the residency.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the online Jotform application, including a statement of interest (artistic plan, site-specific interest, and public interaction plan), a brief biography, and required attachments: 10-15 digital images or videos, an image/video list, and an artist resume.
