About the Open Call

The Akron Soul Train Artist-in-Residence program provides artists with dedicated time, financial support, and organizational resources to develop and present an original creative project. The program requires artists to complete a community engagement activity, participate in promotion, and present their work through exhibition, performance, or publication. Residents work from their own studios and travel to Akron for events.

What is Offered

Includes a $1,000 unrestricted artist stipend, professional exhibition/performance opportunities, marketing/media outreach, and community engagement support.

Requirements

Artists must be over 18, reside within a reasonable traveling distance of Akron, OH, and be able to participate in person. Previous residents must wait two full cycles to reapply.
