2027 Home + Away Residency Program

About the Open Call

In 2027, the Home + Away residency offers partnerships with The Bag Factory in Johannesburg, South Africa (3 months), Artpace San Antonio in Texas (5 weeks), and MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts (4 weeks). Selected artists for domestic opportunities receive a $500 weekly stipend, plus travel, room, and board. The Bag Factory residency provides a $6,000 stipend plus travel and accommodation. Open to South Florida residents aged 21+ not enrolled in degree-granting programs.

What is Offered

Paid residencies with studio space, master artist/curator visits, and stipend ($500 weekly for domestic or $6,000 for Bag Factory). Travel, room, and board are covered.

Requirements

Applicants must be current residents of South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, or Monroe counties), age 21+, and not enrolled in degree-granting programs for 2027. Must not have participated in an Oolite Arts residency or won an Ellie/Oolite Arts award in the past two years (2025-2026). For international residencies, must be permanent U.S. residents with a valid passport.
