2027 Illustration Competition

About the Open Call

Communication Arts is hosting its 2027 Illustration Competition. Eligible work must have been first published or produced from January 2026 through January 2027. The competition includes categories for Advertising, Books, Editorial, For Sale, Institutional, Motion/Animation, Self-Promotion, Unpublished, and Student Work. AI text-to-image generated submissions are not accepted. Winning entrants receive an Award of Excellence, publication in the Illustration Annual, and exposure on the CommArts website. A late entry period with an additional $10 fee is available until January 22, 2027.

What is Offered

Winners receive a personalized Award of Excellence, publication in the Communication Arts Illustration Annual (print/digital), and feature on the commarts.com website.

Requirements

Entries must be original illustrations first published or produced between January 2026 and January 2027. AI text-to-image generated content is strictly prohibited. Specific file formats (JPG for images, MOV/MP4/MPG/GIF for motion) and size limits apply.

How to Apply

All competition entries must be registered through the Communication Arts online competition system at https://commarts.secure-platform.com/a. Entrants should have contact information, project titles/credits, and digital files ready for upload.
