The residency is based at Soulangh Cultural Park in Tainan, Taiwan, and invites artists from all disciplines to undertake research and create new work inspired by the region. The 2027 residency theme focuses on "Sugar," "Salt," and local culture, reflecting the area's history as a former sugar factory, its salt-producing landscape, and its Indigenous and multicultural heritage. Artists are encouraged to respond to Tainan's history, landscape, and communities through contemporary artistic practice. The programme culminates in public exhibitions and engagement activities, fostering dialogue between international artists and local audiences.

Applicants must: Be professional artists working in any artistic discipline. Be able to communicate in English or Chinese. Submit an online application, including: CV Residency proposal Recommendation letter(s) Demonstrate the ability to independently carry out research and manage a residency project. Develop a site-responsive project connected to the residency theme. Successful applicants receive: Studio space at Soulangh Cultural Park Residency support for up to 90 days Living allowance (up to NT$72,000) Exhibition production support (up to NT$18,000) Opportunities to present work through exhibitions and public programmes.
