About the Open Call

The AWAW EAG supports environmental art projects that inspire thought, action, and ethical engagement. The award is open to women, transgender, and gender-nonconforming artists. Projects must engage an environmental issue at some scale, illustrating thorough consideration of ecological and social ethics. For the 2026 cycle, the program will distribute over $470,000 in funding. Projects may work within any artistic discipline and must already be in development at the time of application.

What is Offered

Grants of up to $20,000

Requirements

Applicants must identify as a woman, transgender, and/or gender-nonconforming artist; be 18 years or older; be the project lead; reside in the U.S. or its territories; and not be enrolled in a degree-seeking program during the grant term. Projects must focus on environmental issues, be in progress, and include a free public engagement component completed by August 2027.
