Anthology Short Story Competition 2026

About the Open Call

The competition encourages writers to submit original short stories without any restriction on theme or style, allowing complete creative freedom. Winning entries are selected through anonymous judging based on literary merit, originality, and readability. The first-prize winner receives €1,000 and publication in a future issue of Anthology Magazine. Second and third prizes of €250 and €150 are also awarded. Writers retain copyright to their work, while Anthology receives first publication rights for the winning story.

Requirements

Open to writers of any nationality, living anywhere in the world. Stories must be: Original Previously unpublished Written in English Maximum 1,500 words No restrictions on genre, theme, or style. Multiple entries are permitted, with a separate entry form and fee for each submission. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but authors must withdraw their story if it is accepted for publication elsewhere. Generative AI is not permitted for competition entries. Formatting requirements: PDF or Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) Arial or Times New Roman, 12 pt 1.5 or double spacing Story title at the top of the first page Word count included No author name within the manuscript to ensure anonymous judging.
