About the Open Call

Each year, a theme related to a current social issue is proposed in the form of an international call for projects to artists from all disciplines and backgrounds. A committee of artists and specialists meets to select artistic proposals that cover different aspects of this theme. INACT Festival of Mutant Arts takes place in the spring, over several days, showcasing various forms of performances, conferences, and artistic workshops for the public. The 2026 Theme is 'FUGOLOGY', a term borrowed from artist Erwan Souhmi. Invoking Fugology means exploring alternatives needed in the face of climate change and the cognitive biases that prevent us from considering the unliveability of our environment in the short term. It's an invitation to artists to explore the unconscious ingenuity that fuels our willful ignorance, and to imagine alternatives to our current ways of life: new sustainable, survivalist perspectives, or fictions exploring quests to other planets. The annual open call aims to provide a thematic window of exploration for spectators and to create connections between artistic productions. A committee of specialists and performance experts selects projects based on four criteria: project adequacy with the year's theme, experimental, multidisciplinary, or performative character, opportunity to add meaning or relevance to a specific evening's programming, and technical feasibility and sought-after aesthetic.

What is Offered

Selected artists and technicians are remunerated, housed, and reimbursed for their participation. The festival ensures optimal technical conditions for presentations.

Requirements

Projects must align with the 2026 theme 'FUGOLOGY', demonstrate experimental, multidisciplinary, or performative character, offer relevance to the overall programming, and be technically feasible with a clear aesthetic vision. Open to artists from all disciplines and backgrounds.
