Mesa Refuge
Mesa Refuge supports a diverse community of writers and activists through residencies. They prioritize nonfiction books, long-form journalism, documentary film, and podcasts. The program offers a space for projects addressing pressing issues such as climate, equity, justice, and democracy. Residents are responsible for their own travel and food expenses. No residency fee is required.

Submit an application through Submittable with a writing sample, resume, bio, headshot, and two references. Applicants must be writers or activists focusing on current societal issues.
Applications are submitted via the Submittable platform. Requirements include short-answer questions, a writing sample (up to 2,000 words), a current resume, a headshot photo, a brief bio, and contact information for two references. Fee waivers are available by emailing nkansky@mesarefuge.org.
