About the Open Call

The Max Thelen Studio Residency provides a quality art space for an emerging artist to create artwork and receive community support. The residency includes a 92 sq. ft. studio for 12 months, waived membership fees, a solo exhibition in the Founders’ Gallery, and exposure through Art Works Downtown's platforms and events. Note: This residency does not include living accommodations.

What is Offered

12-month free art studio, solo exhibition, AWD membership, and promotional support.

Requirements

Applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance to San Rafael, CA, and have a committed art practice in the early to middle stage of their career. Visual artists are eligible.
