About the Open Call

The Artina 2025: Upside Down - Inside Out exhibition, presented by the Washington Sculptors Group and Sandy Spring Museum, invites artists to explore themes of inversion and reorientation through sculpture, installation, sound, performance, and interdisciplinary expression. The exhibition embraces the carnivalesque, including mischief, playfulness, whimsy, chaos, and excess, with approaches ranging from the unfamiliar and uncanny to the surreal and satirical. This is the 9th year of the ARTINA exhibition series, an ongoing partnership between WSG and Sandy Spring Museum, which encourages social engagement with the environment through participation and collaboration. The exhibition will take place outdoors at Sandy Spring Museum's 7+ acre property, with works suitable for long-term outdoor exposure. The museum, located in Sandy Spring, MD, serves as a catalyst for community building by providing opportunities for creative engagement in cultural arts.

What is Offered

Accepted Artists will receive an honorarium of $150. Sandy Spring Museum (SSM) insures works on loan up to $10,000 after work is delivered and exhibition loan agreement is signed. Insurance during transportation is the responsibility of the artist. Artists are encouraged to offer their work for sale, with the Museum taking a 30% commission on all sales.

Requirements

The exhibition is open to current or new members of the Washington Sculptors Group only. Artists who are not already members may join WSG by paying annual dues of $45 ($15 for full-time students) during the Entrythingy checkout process. Existing WSG members must renew their dues for 2025 to be eligible for submission. A maximum of 6 images (including any detail images) of sculptures/installations per artist or team may be submitted. Works should be suitable for long-term, outdoor exposure, as well as fabricated and installed in a viewer-safe manner. Artists are responsible for any maintenance of the work. Artists must submit a proposal in .doc or .pdf format. All submissions must be anonymous.

Applicants should go to www.entrythingy.com and click on the tab (at the top) “for artists”. Click on “list of current calls”. Scroll down and click on the Artina 2025 listing. Create a login account to www.entrythingy.com if you don’t have an account, or if you do, login to your existing account with the “Click here to login” button. After logging in, select the Artina 2025 call and complete the entry steps.
