Artist-In-Residence Application Thank you for your interest in becoming a Surel’s Place resident artist. Please follow all application directions at surelsplace.org/residency to ensure that your application is reviewed. NOTES The online portion of the application, below, must be completed at one time. Do not submit the form until it is complete, or you’ll need to begin again. Thank you. Only complete, timely application packets will be considered. In addition to the online application, all relevant accompanying materials must be submitted to info@surelsplace.org by deadline midnight (MST). Missed deadlines cannot be accommodated, though we can hold late applications for the next round. Scheduling can affect acceptance. First and foremost, we are looking for qualified artists with interesting and achievable proposals. That said, the more flexible your calendar choices, the more likely we will be able to accommodate them. So, if you choose only one month, or if you choose only popular summer months, your application status could be affected. Please do not reiterate your CV in paragraph form. Rather, submit a paragraph that more resembles an artist’s statement with some information about how you’ve arrived at the present as an artist. (Submit full proposal separately with your other application materials to info@surelsplace.org.) PARTNER School Program(Required) Are you interested in participating in our Partner School Program? Each cycle, one of our five residencies includes outreach to local schools, which can be a productive, satisfying part of an artist’s residency. Outreach would culminate in a cohesive project for students, with at least four sessions at a Partner School. Partner Artists receive an additional stipend, and there is a budget for outreach materials. Note that this is not a requirement but is appreciated. Yes! No thanks. Surel's Place offers month-long artist-in-residence programs, providing residents with the use of a private home. An additional stipend and a budget for outreach materials are provided for artists participating in the Partner School Program, which involves working with local schools.
All residents must be at least 25 years old and non-smokers. Applicants need to provide two housing references (landlords/neighbors) and two professional references. A short professional biographical statement (no more than 250 words) and a proposal summary (100 words or less) are required. Full proposals and other materials must be submitted separately.
