About the Open Call

Baltic's Open Submission 2026 is a multi-media exhibition showcasing up to 100 works by artists based in the North East of England. The initiative seeks to give visibility to individuals and collectives, with no formal training, qualifications, or exhibiting experience necessary. There is also a dedicated Youth Open Call for 11–17-year-olds.

What is Offered

Selected artists will have their work exhibited at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art for a six-month period. One winner in the Youth category will receive the Fenwick Award and have their work displayed in the Fenwick Newcastle store.

Requirements

Applicants must be based in the North East of England. Each artist can submit only one work. Selected work must be available for exhibition between August 24, 2026 and May 2027.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Submittable platform. Candidates must register for a Submittable account and choose the appropriate age category (18+ or 11–17).
