BAX Artist in Residence (AIR) 2026–28

About the Open Call

Selected artists receive: 450 hours of free rehearsal space over 18 months $8,000 artist stipend Monthly cohort meetings and one-on-one coaching Professional development consultations Advisory, marketing, and production support Fiscal sponsorship through BAX Support network including peers and BAX staff Opportunities to share work in open studios and a final work-in-progress presentation Access to broader BAX artistic communities and programs.

Requirements

Must be based in one of the five NYC boroughs for the duration of the residency Can commit to monthly in-person cohort meetings Ideal for artists whose work is in development and benefits from collective process and support Not eligible if you are a full-time student in a degree program Former BAX Artists in Residence (pre-2021) and former Space Grant recipients are eligible.
