About the Open Call

Makerversity is launching the Black Designers and Makers Residency to offer long-term support, space, and resources to Black designers, makers, creatives, and innovators. The program addresses financial and racial inequities in London by providing access to high-end facilities and community. It is open to a wide range of disciplines including fashion, furniture making, product design, animation, jewelry, set design, digital design, UI/UX, and sculpture. Residents are selected anonymously every 6 months for a 12-month term.

What is Offered

Full-time 24/7 hot-desking membership for 12 months and a grant of £100 per month for the duration of the residency.

Requirements

Applicants must identify as Black (Black heritage), be based in the UK, and commit to using Makerversity as their main workspace for at least 4 days per month.

Fill in the Google Form application or send a proposal in your preferred format to hello@makerversity.org with pictures or videos of your work. Nominations are also accepted via email.
