About the Open Call

The Black & White Photography Contest 2025 is an international competition inviting both professional and amateur photographers aged 18 and older to showcase their black-and-white work. The contest will be judged by Sandrine Hermand-Grisel, professional photographer and founder of All About Photo. Winners will be selected around July 30, 2025, with results published online after August 15, 2025. This opportunity provides significant exposure through publication and online features.

What is Offered

Cash prizes are awarded: $500 USD for 1st place, $300 USD for 2nd place, and $200 USD for 3rd place. Winning portfolios and exclusive interviews will be published in AAP Magazine, Volume 49: B&W. All winners, including finalists (ranked 4-20) and juror's picks, will receive one free copy of AAP Magazine and have their work permanently showcased in the online Winners Gallery of All About Photo.

Requirements

The contest is open to all individuals age 18 and older, including professional and amateur photographers. The theme is black and white photography. Up to 40 images can be entered. Images must be saved as JPEG or JPG, 72 dpi resolution, Grayscale or RGB profile, with flattened layers. Digital files should not exceed 2 MB, and the longest dimension should not exceed 1,200 pixels (with a minimum size of 200 pixels). No watermarks are allowed.

How to Apply

To apply, register or log in on the All About Photo website. Upload your photos to your gallery. Note that submissions cannot be edited or have additional images added once payment is processed. Entrants are advised to review their completed entries carefully before proceeding to payment.
