About the Open Call

Art@TRX: Open Call for Public Art. Tun Razak Exchange is calling on artists to shape the future cityscape. Through bold, dynamic public sculptures, we invite you to express what it means to live at the intersection of global ambition and local spirit — a city where heritage and innovation, community and capital, architecture and nature all converge. The theme is "Intersection of Exchanges," challenging artists to give form to the soul of Kuala Lumpur. Your work should reflect the diverse flows that define TRX—where people, ideas, cultures, and experiences meet. We’re seeking sculpture designs that are not just visually striking, but emotionally resonant. Submissions will be evaluated based on originality and artistic merit, feasibility and durability, relevance to TRX’s values (sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation), and public engagement potential. The use of sustainable materials or tech integration is encouraged.

What is Offered

Selected winners will receive prize money. Main Category: Winner: RM50,000; 2 Runners-up: RM10,000 each. Student Category: Winner: RM10,000; 2 Runners-up: RM2,500 each. Winning artworks may also be brought to life and permanently installed at TRX, subject to feasibility and budget.

Requirements

Please prepare the following: 1. Artist Bio & Portfolio – especially works related to public or large-scale art. 2. Concept – including mock-ups/sketches, material explanation, and estimated production timeline. 3. Artist Statement – a short write-up aligning your idea with TRX’s theme and values. 4. Budget Estimate – a high-level breakdown covering production, logistics, and installation. Files should be compiled in PDF format and not exceed 15MB in size.
