Call for Artists: Functional Art at Sandy Spring Museum

About the Open Call

Sandy Spring Museum is creating a collection of functional artworks, including seating, bike racks, and trail elements, to enhance its campus. This is a two-phase application process. Phase I requires a portfolio, resume, and initial concept description. Selected artists for Phase II receive a $1,000 honorarium to develop a detailed proposal. Final commissions may range from $15,000–$25,000.

What is Offered

Selected artists for Phase II receive a $1,000 honorarium. Successful final proposals will be commissioned for fabrication with an anticipated budget of $15,000–$25,000.

Requirements

Artists must reside in Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia (DMV). Applicants may be emerging or established artists working as individuals or groups.
