Palermofoto
The 'Casa & Putìa' art residency program, launched by Palermofoto in 2025, is designed for professional photographers and visual artists keen to expand their knowledge of ancient printing techniques. The program aims to share historical photographic knowledge, encourage idea exchange, and discover new forms of expression by intertwining experimentation and tradition. It also seeks to broaden Palermofoto's international network, inviting artists globally for reciprocal cultural enrichment through exploring historical photography while contributing contemporary perspectives. The 10-day program includes accommodation in a private room with a double bed, bathroom, and kitchen access (food/drinks not included). Residents receive intensive daily training (at least 5 hours) in techniques such as Cyanotype, Van Dyke, Salt Paper, and Wet Collodion. Participants have access to a professional photo studio, darkroom, library, and all necessary materials and equipment. The residency culminates in a public exhibition, 'Casa Aperta,' where participants present their work. Activities are available in Italian, English, or French, and include membership to the Palermofoto® Cultural Association. The residency is located in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, offering an immersive experience in a city rich in history, architecture, and proximity to the sea. The participation fee is €1350, covering accommodation, materials, workshops, training, and final exhibition production. An additional €500 is required for duos. This open call specifically targets the Autumn term from November 23 - December 2, 2025. Applications are submitted via an online form. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025.
