Cirkus Kolektiv
The residency focuses on exploring how contemporary circus and outdoor performance can activate public spaces as places of connection, creativity, and community exchange. Artists are invited to research and develop new ideas within the unique social, cultural, and architectural contexts of Split, without the requirement to produce a finished performance or premiere. The programme responds to the transformation of Split’s city centre through tourism, gentrification, and changing relationships between residents and public spaces. Through artistic exploration, collaboration, and community engagement, the residency aims to reimagine urban environments as accessible spaces for shared experiences and creative expression. Selected artists and collectives will have opportunities to: Research and create within outdoor and public environments Collaborate with local artists and communities Develop experimental, site-responsive outdoor projects Receive mentorship, feedback, and production support Participate in public discussions, presentations, and events Deliver workshops connected to their artistic practice Each selected participant receives financial support of up to €1,000 towards travel, accommodation, and production costs, with potential additional funding available.
Applicants must: Be artists or collectives legally residing in Europe or holding nationality from a European country Work in contemporary circus, outdoor arts, or related disciplines Demonstrate an interest in experimental and site-specific artistic approaches Show a desire to engage with public spaces and local communities Be open to collaboration, research, and artistic exchange The residency welcomes artists at all career stages, from emerging practitioners to established professionals.
