Uberbau_house
The Uberbau_house +Arquivo Residency is a program for research in contemporary art, providing a space for reflection, debate, and documentation. It offers opportunities for exchange with cultural agents and organizations in São Paulo, Brazil, and across Latin America. The residency emphasizes coexistence and respect, actively combating all forms of ethnic, gender, and sexuality-based discrimination. Participants will engage in a two-day contemporary art seminar, public presentations of research progress, and networking with other artists and art workers. The program includes regular follow-up and advisory sessions with the coordination team, as well as a schedule of in-person meetings in São Paulo and online meetings with key agents from Latin America. Participants will be included in an online publication and a semi-annual research fanzine, and will have free access to all Uberbau_house activities, including its library and the 'Reserva Ideológica' contemporary art archive. The program includes shared dormitory accommodation with breakfast, access to shared spaces (kitchen, laundry, living room), and a personalized work plan and research support. It does not cover travel expenses, lunches, or other meals, though group lunches are planned. The residency offers periods of 18 days/17 nights (from August 2025 to February 2026, starting at USD 1,100) and 45 days/44 nights (from August/September 2025 to January/February 2026, starting at USD 2,400). Longer residencies (3 and 6 months) are also available. Participation fees can be paid in installments. An invitation letter is provided for fund management, and a certificate of participation is issued upon completion. Uberbau_house prioritizes scholarships for individuals connected to communities, managing inclusive activities, engaging in territorial activism or pedagogical work, and those with conceptual or practical research on territory and local knowledge. Two 50% individual scholarships are offered to individuals identifying as LGBTQIA+, Black, Afro-descendant, Indigenous, neurodivergent, or in adverse economic situations. The program is supported by Jorge Sepúlveda T., Guillermina Bustos, Federico de la Puente, and the Uberbau_house team, with extensive experience in collective pedagogical activities, collaborative research, and publications over 18 years.
