About the Open Call

Hey! Food is Ready is creating a one-of-a-kind cookbook—a love letter to home kitchens, secret spice blends, and the memories simmering behind every dish. They are inviting UK-based cooks, chefs, and food storytellers from all walks of life to be part of it. The open call seeks UK-based individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds, including supper club hosts, street food wizards, home kitchen heroes, or anyone with a love for cooking who cooks from memory, tradition, or feeling. Applicants do not need to be professional chefs, but should have a powerful story told through food.

What is Offered

Selected contributors will be featured in the 'Hey! Food is Ready' cookbook, which will be distributed in bookshops across the UK, Europe, Australia, and North America, as well as in gift shops. They will gain increased exposure and receive professional documentation of their food story. Contributors will also be considered for future catering opportunities through the platform and have the opportunity to host a supper club or pop-up event during the official book launch in March 2026.

Requirements

Applicants must be UK-based individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds. They can be supper club hosts, street food vendors, home kitchen enthusiasts, or anyone with a passion for cooking. The call is open to individuals who cook from memory, tradition, or feeling, emphasizing that professional chef experience is not required, only a powerful story told through food.

How to Apply

Applicants must submit their recipes, story, and photos through an online application form. The form requires name, email, Instagram handles, website (optional), a background and journey with food, and 1-2 dishes to contribute with their unique aspects.
