About the Open Call

_CRAZY_ is an exhibition of fine art by female-identifying and non-binary artists that creates a safe space for rage, protest, and performance. This art will confront the centuries-old stereotype that expressive, opinionated, intelligent women are “crazy” by making space for authentic responses and presenting those emotions as fine art. Inspired by Afropunk art movements and feminist punk music movements, CRAZY showcases art that embraces maximalist self-expression as a method of personal and political advocacy. _CRAZY_ is an exhibition of art in diverse formats: paintings, pop art, street art, installations, light art, drag performances, video art, DIY and upcycled art, conceptual performance art, and sculpture. Art that has been created in response to political unrest or music is strongly encouraged. Only artworks created after 2020 will be considered for the exhibition. We are the Guerilla Girls. We are Riot Grrrl. We are Pussy Riot. We are Afropunk. We continue the legacy of unapologetic, angry, loud women who refuse to be silenced by galleries, politicians, or sexist societal norms. We have a voice and we will use it to sing a ballad of self-empowerment. They call us CRAZY, but that was just the sound check.

What is Offered

Exhibition opportunity with 60% commission on sales.

Requirements

This exhibition is limited to female-identifying and nonbinary artists 18 or over. This exhibition is accepting finished works and works in progress for consideration. Finished work must have been completed since 2020. Work must not exceed 60 inches in any direction. All work must be for sale; value must not exceed $10,000. All artwork must be ready to hang. The gallery has the authority to turn away any work that is not ready to hang, differs from the original accepted work, or is not suitable for gallery installation. Accepted works must be delivered to and picked up from the gallery. Work cannot be shipped to BAU Gallery. BAU Gallery will not ship work back. No exceptions. BAU Gallery will retain a commission of 40% on all sales. The artist will receive 60% of the sale price.
