Greywood Arts
The Creative Process Residency is our signature self-directed option open to all visual, performing and literary arts disciplines, as well as curators, researchers, creatives and philosophers – anyone with a creative process, really! The Residency @ Greywood Arts is an artist-run space in our iconic 3-story Georgian house located in the centre of Killeagh, a vibrant modern Irish village. The Dissour River runs alongside the residency, and the ancient Irish woodland Glenbower is just a short walk upstream. The house and garden are also home to Greywood’s Artistic Director, Jessica Bonenfant, her husband Hughie Coogan, and a menagerie of dogs, cats, chickens and goats. The Coach House, Greywood Arts CLG’s not-for-profit creative hub with studios, art classroom and event space is adjacent to the residency. Studios include: Writer’s Den / desk-based workspace (a cosy space with a desk overlooking the river, suitable for curators, researchers, filmmakers, musicians or anyone working mess-free); Visual Art Studio (a large, light filled space with a sink, can be occupied exclusively by one person, or comfortably shared by collaborating artists); The Big Studio (perfect for movement and performing artists, but can be used for visual / other art forms if the floor is protected); The Library (typically common space, but can be reserved for musicians requiring access to a piano); Sycamore Suite (a hybrid live-work space with a mezannine/loft bed, desk and ensuite bathroom, suitable for filmakers, researchers, writers, musicians, and visual artists working on a small scale). We support interaction between visiting artists and the local community in the form of work-in-progress showings, demonstrations, readings, workshops or concerts. These encounters should serve the artist’s process, while also exposing a rural village to a vast variety of art forms and art-making processes. Let us know if you are interested in engaging with the community during your stay!
Dedicated studio spaces including Writer’s Den, Visual Art Studio, The Big Studio, The Library, and Sycamore Suite. Accommodation in a 3-story Georgian house. Opportunities for community engagement through work-in-progress showings, demonstrations, readings, workshops, or concerts. Support for residents seeking external funding for their stay.
Open to all visual, performing, and literary arts disciplines, as well as curators, researchers, creatives, and philosophers – anyone with a creative process. Artists of all backgrounds, races, genders, and sexual identities are welcome to apply. The building has many stairs (bedrooms and studios are on the first and second floors) and cannot yet accommodate individuals with certain mobility disabilities. Families may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Residents are expected to be self-funded, though Greywood Arts will support applications for funding sought by residents.
