About the Open Call

Cryptic is inviting Scottish-based emerging artists to develop existing projects for the 2027/28 season. The opportunity is designed for works that utilize technology in creative ways and feature original sound or music. Successful applicants receive a fee, mentorship, development time, documentation, and marketing support. This is specifically for the development of existing work, not new commissions. The organization is committed to inclusion and accessibility, with support available for disabled or neurodivergent applicants and those with caring responsibilities.

What is Offered

Fee of £800 for solo artists or up to £2000 for groups, one mentoring session, up to two-day residency, professional photography and video documentation, marketing support, and travel/accommodation for those outside the Central Belt.

Requirements

Must be an emerging artist based in Scotland, not in full-time education. Project must use original sound or music and technology. Only existing projects accepted.
