About the Open Call
D-Normal/V-Essay is a video zine initiated by Floating Projects Collective, now in its seventh issue edited by Videotage. The call seeks collaborators and creators to re-imagine the video essay format, specifically incorporating new imaging technologies such as AI and generative tools. The project aims to broaden the horizons of video communication and archival practice in the digital society. Shortlisted works will be featured online and added to the Videotage Media Art Collection (VMAC).
What is Offered
Best Video Essay prize of $2000 HKD, Special Mentions (jury recommended), online exhibition in the video zine, archival in the Videotage Media Art Collection, and a physical showcase at Videotage in June 2026.
Requirements
Maximum duration of 30 minutes including credits; maximum of 2 video entries per person; works must include English subtitles if not originally in English; works must fit into one of the specified open call content categories.
