About the Open Call
Deep Winter Writers 2027 is a three-week, self-directed residency for writers in all creative genres. It offers individual accommodation and private studios, with optional thematic talks, one-on-one mentoring, and workshops. Participants benefit from being in a creative, unstructured environment. The residency is open to emerging and established writers with a proven publication record. Participants must be 18+ and comfortable working autonomously.
What is Offered
Includes single bedroom accommodation, studio space, $68/day food credit, access to mentorship, library, and fitness facilities. Scholarships covering 100% of tuition and portions of living costs are available.
Requirements
Must be 18+ at program start. Requires a proven publication record. Applicants must work in English. International applicants are responsible for obtaining a Visitor Visa.
How to Apply
Applicants must complete an online form via the Banff Centre portal, pay the application fee, and upload materials to SlideRoom, including a resume, cover letter, project proposal, and a 10-page portfolio excerpt. Financial aid requests must be included in the SlideRoom submission.
