About the Open Call

The F-O-R-M Commissioning Fund invites applications for its 2025 cycle. The application process consists of three sections: General Information, Film Proposal (Option A: Written, Option B: Pre-Recorded Video, Option C: Live Video Call), and Approach to Collaboration and Community Care (Option A, B, or C), followed by Support Material. Proposals should include a working title, synopsis, artist statement, inspiration, and an exploration of movement and filmmaking. Applicants must also detail their approach to community involvement and self-care. Support materials can include links to test footage, past projects, mood boards, storyboards, scripts, treatments, photos, biographies of creative personnel, a proposed detailed budget, and a timeline. An optional letter of support is also accepted.

What is Offered

Grants of $3500 will be awarded, plus up to $1500 credit in equipment/facility rental costs from commissioning fund production partners (Cineworks, VIVO Media Arts, CSIF).

Requirements

Applicants must provide full name, email, pronouns, date of birth, self-identification (optional), city and province, co-applicant details (if applicable), and choose an age category (Youth: 19-25; Emerging: 26+). They must submit a film proposal (max 500 words synopsis), a personal artistic statement (max 200 words), inspiration behind the project (max 500 words), and thoughts on movement and filmmaking (max 200 words). Additionally, an approach to collaboration and community care (max 200 words) and self-care plan are required. Support materials include up to three links (max 10 minutes total) to relevant work, biographies of creative personnel (max 1 page), a detailed proposed budget utilizing the full funding, and a proposed detailed timeline. A signed letter of support from an established artist or professional is optional.
