About the Open Call

Fire Island Artist Residency (FIAR), the first residency in the United States exclusively for artists identifying as LGBTQIA+, accepts applications for its summer program in Cherry Grove, NY. Emerging artists share a live/work space for a four-week program marked by intimate studio visits with, and public lectures by, renowned leaders in contemporary art, scholarship, activism and curation. FIAR provides lodging, work space, stipends for meals and travel, and an honorarium.

Requirements

Artists must identify as LGBTQIA+ and be 'emerging' (defined as having fewer than two solo shows in major art hubs, solo museum exhibitions, or works in major institutional collections). Working knowledge of English is required. International artists must arrange their own travel and visitor visas.
