Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery
Forgotten Artists is a research-driven exhibition that brings visibility to artists whose contributions have been historically overlooked, marginalized, or lost over time. Participating artists are invited to research and select a “forgotten” artist—one whose work, influence, or cultural significance has faded from public recognition—and create new work in response to that artist’s legacy. The exhibition features a wide range of media including 2D (painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media) and 3D (jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, installation). Artists must submit a 50-100 word statement documenting their research and conceptual connection to the forgotten artist.
Exhibition in the Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery from July 28 to August 24, 2027.
Open to professional artists, including individuals, collaborative teams, and designers experienced in public art. Applicants must be US-based. It is preferred that the artist be present for installation. Submission requires a written statement (50-100 words) identifying the forgotten artist, providing historical context, and explaining the influence on the submitted work.
