About the Open Call

This grant provides one-time awards of up to $2,000 to assist Maryland-based independent artists and nonprofit arts organizations with the costs of professional development activities. Eligible uses include registration fees, travel, consultant or instruction fees, honoraria, materials directly related to the activity, and other project costs tied to professional experiences such as workshops, conferences, classes, and retreats. Grants are awarded on a rolling monthly basis through the FY26 cycle.

Requirements

Applicants must be Maryland-based independent artists, Maryland-incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organizations, units of Maryland local government, or Maryland schools/universities. Applicants must identify a specific professional development opportunity occurring within the grant timeline and provide a proposed budget.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the Maryland State Arts Council. The call is open on a rolling basis, with applications submitted by the last day of a month reviewed the following month.
