Greenway Residency

About the Open Call

The Greenway Residency offers three writers the opportunity to develop their practice in the summer home of Agatha Christie. The residency runs from 25th September to 16th October 2026, comprising two weeks at Greenway and one week in Exeter. The offer includes accommodation (private room at Greenway, apartment in Exeter), return airfare, and dedicated writing space at the Devon and Exeter Institution. The residency is aimed at writers working in fiction, nature writing, or children's literature who are affiliated with a UNESCO City of Literature outside the UK.

What is Offered

2 weeks of accommodation at Greenway, 1 week of accommodation in Exeter, return airfare from home city, and writing space at the Devon and Exeter Institution.

Requirements

Applicants must be published writers from a UNESCO City of Literature outside the UK, proficient in English, and comfortable with independent living. Specific publication requirements apply (at least one book in English or two in own language; three books for native English speakers). Genres accepted: Fiction (including poetry), Nature Writing, or Children’s literature.
