About the Open Call

The foundation provides 5 travel grants (3-12 months) and 7 residency grants (up to 12 months in specified global cities) for visual artists. Applicants must be born in, reside in, or have studied in Hesse. Grants include funding for production, exhibition, or publication of works. Selection involves a two-round process starting with a shortlist.

Funding for travel and residency projects, including production allowances up to 7,700 euros and total grant amounts ranging from 12,500 to 25,000 euros.

Requirements

Applicants must be visual artists who: 1) were born in Hesse, 2) have primary residence in Hesse since Jan 1, 2025, or 3) completed a degree at an art academy in Hesse. Must not have received this grant in the past.

Applications must be submitted via the online portal which opens on August 1, 2026. Applicants must submit a CV, project proposal, digital illustration/video materials, and proof of eligibility criteria.
