In Cahoots Residency
In Cahoots Residency is designed for people who have prior experience in art and/or writing, aged 18 years or older. It welcomes adult artists of all ethnicities, religions, ages, physical abilities, gender, financial status, and educational backgrounds. The residency encourages collaborative teams of up to 5 to apply. Residents are required to show a negative Covid test upon arrival. The program offers both independent artist residencies and supported (fully or partially funded) residencies. Supported Residencies, awards, and fellowships are available, especially for emerging artists/writers, recent students, people of color, those returning to art, and adjunct teachers. The residency provides individual housing and shared studio facilities. Mentorship and instruction are available as add-on options.
The residency provides individual housing and shared studio access. Supported (fully or partially funded) residencies are available, along with various awards and fellowships to assist artists with financial need. Mentorship hours and private instruction are available a la carte. Collaborative teams sharing housing receive a 25% discount on their residency fee. Resident staff offer support for brief questions or equipment demos.
Applicants must be 18 years or older with prior experience in art and/or writing. A portfolio of 8-10 images of artwork or 1-3 writing samples is required. All residents must show a negative Covid test upon arrival. Collaborative teams require each artist to submit a separate application. Specific awards may have additional requirements, such as being a CBAA or CSP member, or meeting criteria for emerging artists, artists of color, or seniors.
Applications are submitted through CaFÉ. Each applicant, including those in collaborative teams, must complete a separate entry form and pay a $25 application fee. Required information includes contact details, an introduction, description of creative process, project proposal, specific equipment needs and prior experience, CV, and a portfolio (8-10 images for visual artists or 1-3 writing samples for writers). Applicants for Supported Residencies must also describe their financial need and artistic merit, and provide contact information for three references.
