La Biennale di Venezia
The Dance Department of La Biennale di Venezia promotes a multi-year programme aimed at supporting the production (or co-production) of new works by international choreographers or dance companies. To participate in the selection, it is necessary to propose an original choreographic project (which has never premiered either in studio or full form). The selected project will make its debut (world premiere) as part of the Biennale Danza 2026.
The selected project will be supported by La Biennale with a contribution of up to € 30,000.00. La Biennale will also contribute to cover the artistic cachet for the Venice debut, travel and accommodation expenses of the choreographer or company for the debut in Venice, and expenses related to the technical rider for the Venice debut.
Applicants must be international choreographers or dance companies. Proposals must be for an original choreographic project that has never premiered before (in studio or full form). Required documentation includes a description of the artistic project (max. 1 A4 page, front only) and a 5-10 minute video link. All materials must be in English. The selected project will need to be adapted for the Biennale venues and guaranteed for its debut in Venice according to an agreed schedule.
Applications must be submitted no later than 20 October 2025 via an online application form. The documentation consists of: description of the artistic project in English (max. 1 A4 page, front only), specifying any partners and their contribution to the coproduction; and a link to a video of 5-10 minutes maximum (which may include short dance clips, choreographic draft, discursive/explanatory part in English). Incomplete applications will be automatically excluded. The application form is available at https://web11.labiennale.org/danza2026e/addrecord.php
