IV MALA Festival 2026: Open Call

About the Open Call

For the 2026 edition, MALA Festival is seeking one performance for family audiences that reflects the festival’s core values of lightness, flexibility, and minimal technical demands. Eligible works may include Theatre, Music-Theatre, or Dance-Theatre and should be designed to tour easily with a maximum of two performers and minimal equipment. The selected production will be presented three times during the festival, taking place from 2–6 September 2026.

Requirements

Applications must present a family-oriented performance lasting between 30 and 60 minutes, performed either in Portuguese or as a non-verbal work. Productions must be adaptable to both indoor and outdoor spaces and technically self-sufficient or require only minimal support. Touring is limited to two people, each carrying one suitcase up to 23 kg. Applicants must submit a full performance video, technical rider, and performance dossier or company website by 15 June 2026.
