About the Open Call

Klub Żak announces an open call for the 15th edition of the Solo Dance Contest 2026. This international competition gathers dancers and choreographers from all over the world during the Gdańsk Dance Festival. Selected participants will present their solos before an international jury. The contest also includes a qualifying round specifically for Polish dancers (Solo Dance Contest PL). The competition is restricted to solos without multimedia projections or complex stage sets to ensure equal technical conditions for all.

What is Offered

A total prize pool of EUR 6,000, including EUR 5,500 distributed among 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, and a EUR 500 Audience Award. Reimbursement of travel costs (up to PLN 400 for Poland; up to EUR 180 for international), accommodation, and food during the competition.

Requirements

Dancers must be over 18 years old and professional (documented artistic activity or dance studies diploma). Solos must be between 5 and 20 minutes long and have premiered after June 1, 2024. The performance must be suitable for specific stage technical conditions (9m x 8m, no multimedia).

How to Apply

Submit the online application form available on the festival website. Requirements include a full-length recording of the solo (via link with password), a short bio (max 800 characters), solo description (max 1000 characters), technical information, at least two photos, and documents confirming professional background.
