Lawrence Arts Center
The Visiting and Resident Artists program offers community members a unique opportunity to study visual arts with practitioners of varied backgrounds. The Lawrence Arts Center provides a creative and supportive environment for artists to immerse themselves in creating new work and expanding their understanding of their medium. The program consists of three distinct residencies: Ceramics (year-long), Printmaking (year-long), and Project-Based (flexible duration). All residencies involve teaching, community outreach, and studio maintenance, with the year-long programs culminating in a solo exhibition.
$1,500 monthly stipend (year-long), furnished housing, $2,000 professional development honorarium, 24-hour studio access, solo exhibition with curatorial support, and up to $300 for materials (project-based).
Ideal candidates for year-long residencies should have an MFA in their respective field (Ceramics or Printmaking) and be able to work independently. Residents must perform 15 hours per week of studio maintenance and teach at least two classes per session. Project-based residency applications are accepted on a rolling basis, recommended 6-12 months in advance.
For year-long residencies in Ceramics and Printmaking, apply online via the Slideroom link. For the Project-Based residency, apply via the dedicated online form on the Lawrence Arts Center website, providing a project proposal, timeframe, 5-10 work samples (or 3-5 for performers/writers), a CV, and three references.
