About the Open Call

Listen to Dragons is a zine produced by NY Artists for Guaranteed Income, a grassroots effort to make being an artist financially feasible and equitable in New York State. The zine explores the economic realities of being an artist and demonstrates the labor involved in artistic production. Submissions should reflect on personal experience, art's potential, human history and art, or thought experiments regarding financial stability for artists. No AI allowed. All submissions must include estimated hours of labor. Specifications: 5.5" x 8.5" portrait or 8.5" x 11" spread.

What is Offered

Publication in the zine and contribution to the advocacy effort for guaranteed income.

Requirements

Artists must include the estimated number of hours the work took to complete. Work must fit specified dimensions (5.5" x 8.5" or 8.5" x 11"). Maximum 3 entries per artist. No AI generated content. Must respond to specific provided themes.
