About the Open Call

The 5th medienfrische residency invites artists, scientists, and students to the remote Bschlabertal valley. The program focuses on unconventional thinking and experimenting with the local landscape and community. For 2026, the thematic focus is 'GEHEN UM ZU BLEIBEN' (Walking to Stay), exploring walking as an artistic practice and radical aesthetic. Participants are provided with living spaces, workspaces, and mentoring, and they contribute to a diverse program of concerts, lectures, and exhibitions.

What is Offered

Free accommodation and full catering for the duration of the residency, workspace, mentoring, exhibition opportunities, and travel reimbursement up to 100 EUR.

Requirements

Open to individual artists, scientists, and students of all nationalities/genders aged 18+. Applicants must be able to stay for the entire period from June 1 to June 21, 2026. Two specific spots are reserved for artists with roots in or current residence in Tyrol.

How to Apply

Applications must be sent via email to residency@medienfrische.com. Submit a combined or individual PDF files (max 15MB) containing: the completed application form, a short artistic CV, a project proposal or motivation letter (max 3,000 characters), and three work samples of previous projects.
