Orein Arts
The Monastery Arts Residency brings artists and writers to live, create, and seek beauty for a week under summer skies at Mount Saviour Monastery. The program offers two individual week-long sessions for 12-15 artists each. Participants live in the St. Joseph’s guesthouse with private rooms and share meals with the monks in the refectory. The residency provides shared studio spaces for visual artists, quiet rooms and a piano for musicians, and library/conference room access for writers. The rhythm is influenced by the monastic schedule (Divine Office), with individual time during the day and communal programming in the evenings.
Private single room accommodation, all meals included, shared studio and creative workspace access, and access to 1,000 acres of monastery grounds.
Applicants must be practicing artists at any stage of their career; commitment to the full length of the session is mandatory; respect for monastic rules and faith traditions is required; smoke-free campus; no pets, children, or partners; ability to work in a self-directed environment without dependable wifi.
Applications must be submitted through the online application portal available via the Orein Arts website link.
