About the Open Call

Mâwacihitowinihk Nikamowak (Plains Cree for 'they sing at the gathering') is a residency for Indigenous musicians to develop nearly completed or finished work with support from faculty and the Banff Centre audio production team. The residency includes workshops, one-on-one sessions, studio access, and public performance opportunities.

What is Offered

Includes a single bedroom accommodation, meal plan credit, studio access, workshop participation, and performance opportunities. Full scholarships are available covering 100% of the program fee for accepted Indigenous artists.

Requirements

Open to Indigenous solo artists and duos (musicians, vocalists, rappers, DJs, instrumentalists) from all regions who are 18+. Must submit 2-3 samples of work in progress/completed songs.

Apply via the online form on the Banff Centre website, pay the non-refundable application fee, and submit supporting materials including a resume, cover letter, project proposal, resource request form, and a portfolio of 3-5 song samples through SlideRoom.
