Ayatana Research Program
The Mycophilia Online Research Residency is a two-week program in October 2025 designed for artists to delve into the study of mushrooms and fungi. This online mycology course provides opportunities to learn from experts in their research labs and to collaborate with artists from around the world. The program offers insights into mushrooms from diverse perspectives, focusing on science, ecology, fungal behavior, physiology, foraging, and studio/lab techniques through daily live video lectures with international mycological researchers. Artists will engage in discussions, recommended assignments, and show and tell sessions during the 2-2.5 hours of daily programming. Biophilium residencies facilitate research for visual and conceptual artists within a small group of like-minded creatives. Artists, writers, musicians, film makers, and dancers are encouraged to apply. The jury will select eight international artists based on their portfolio. The program includes short one-on-one meetings with artists working on mushroom-related art.
