From the secrets of Copper Age Eleusis to the revelations of Christian Greece, the Mysteries of Bliss residency program aims at expanding artists' spectrum of interwoven cultural experiences and offering insight into the human quest for immortality, love, and bliss. The educational residency project addresses jewelry makers, designers, visual artists, photographers, crafters, ceramists, performers, filmmakers, and art theorists who wish to dive into forty centuries of Greek art and study concepts of life, death, unity, and resurrection. The residency explores how art, history, philosophy, and faith created masterpieces and how art, performance, and poetry can have a soothing effect on human agonies. It initiates participants in understanding how to read and be inspired by the long pre-Christian and Christian icon tradition, explaining concepts of time, space, eternity, providence, and divine union embedded in Byzantine art. Special emphasis is placed on objects like jewelry, textiles, and dresses, examining their connection with performance and rituals of transcendence. The project includes two preparatory online workshops on Greek antique and medieval art. Residents who create a video inspired by the residency may have it screened at Munich's international SCHNMUCK Jewelry Week 2026, and their work will be promoted through press and media. Residency dates in 2025 are 6 – 19 October and 18 November – 1 December.
