NAWAT FES Artist Residency

About the Open Call

Nawat Fes is a residency program hosted by the American Language Center Fes / Arabic Language Institute in Fez. It provides a supportive environment for research, reflection, and artistic practice within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Fes medina. Residents live and work in Dar Bennis, a restored traditional house. The program aims to cultivate understanding among multifaceted cultures through the exchange of ideas and community engagement.

What is Offered

Two-month residency including housing at Dar Bennis, a stipend of approximately $1200 (12,000 Moroccan dirhams), multilingual staff support, and an optional 10-hour course in Moroccan Arabic.

Requirements

Artists must hold passports from countries that do not require a visa or a Morocco Electronic Travel Authorization for a minimum stay of 60 days. Good conversational skills in English are required. Artists must be prepared to work independently and engage with the local community in Fes. Collaboratives of up to three people are eligible.
