New Contemporaries
Selected artists will join a structured Artist Development Programme from September 2026 to June 2027, featuring online and in-person sessions, mentoring, and workshops. The programme culminates in a group exhibition at Focal Point Gallery and other venues in Southend-on-Sea opening in June 2027. Artists receive a fee, travel and accommodation bursaries, and the opportunity to sell their work. The selection panel includes artists Joy Gregory, Florence Peake, and Abbas Zahedi.

Artists must be aged 21 or over, based in the UK, and self-identify as emerging or early career. Must not have previously exhibited with New Contemporaries. Open to individuals, duos, and collectives.
Applications must be submitted through the New Contemporaries Submissions portal. Applicants should submit up to three works representing their current practice and a short written statement.
