About the Open Call
The Nomad Art Prize 2026 invites artists to explore themes of displacement, travel, migration, belonging, and the tension between roots and movement. The award encourages artists to consider how environments, journeys, and cultural exchanges influence artistic practice. Each edition of the prize takes place in a different city, creating a changing geographical focus for contemporary art. For 2026, Lisbon acts as both a location and a source of inspiration, encouraging artists to respond to ideas of history, movement, and cultural transformation. Eight selected artists will receive: A €1,000 cash prize each A one-week creative residency in Lisbon Travel and accommodation support Participation in an exhibition at LX Factory, Lisbon in October 2026 Artists retain full ownership and copyright of their submitted artworks.
Requirements
Open to artists of all nationalities. Applicants must be aged 16 or over. Open to both emerging and established artists. Artists may submit 1–3 artworks. All visual art disciplines are considered, including: Painting Sculpture Photography Video Installation Digital art Mixed media Submissions are reviewed by an international jury of curators.
